The term ''extremism'' is usually used to describe the activities, behaviour, views and ideologies which oppose democracy, i.e., the democratic order, or which support overthrowing a legally elected government.
SOA gathers data within the territory of the Republic of Croatia and abroad on the plans, intentions, activities and operations of individuals, groups or organizations which support actions aimed at overthrowing or strive to destabilize or alter the constitutionally defined order and organization, to render the Republic of Croatia subordinate or dependent on another state, to break away a part of its territory or to annex a part of its territory to another state or to overthrow the President of the Republic of Croatia, legally elected government or government representatives.
SOA also gathers data on the intentions, operations and activities of individuals, groups or organizations which support, promote or encourage hate, discrimination or violence towards the citizens of the Republic of Croatia based on differences in race, ethnicity, religion, political or other views, and participates in gathering data on certain subcultures notorious for their violent behaviour.
